Dear Members,
  
The Officers had a recent meeting about whether to continue with dues.  We discussed what we pay for and what we have to offer.  The decision was to continue with the $20 annual fee for a single member and $35 for a family.  Dues for 2013 would be due by June 1, 2013.  If you renew before the end of March, the fee is discounted $16.75 and $30 respectively.  Those individuals or families that paid after September of 2012 are exempt.  Payment can be made on line or by going to our website and downloading the application the old fashioned way.

I wanted to let people know where the money goes and what we spend it on:
  1. By law we have to carry Insurance.  We do that through RRCA (Road Runners Club of America).  This protects us from any lawsuits and/or allows us to use local tracks (legally) and even to hold races.
  2. We will no longer be asking for a donation when we use the Westtown Track.  We will use part of the dues money for this.  We will now be asking non-members to join us since our Insurance will not cover them and we don't want to endanger our relationship with the Westtown School.
  3. We plan on giving a portion of the dues to the Kid's Day at the Races that was funded almost exclusively by Bill and Betty Dawson.  The Oakbourne Park now charges for us to use that facility.
  4. We plan on using part of the dues to help subsidize the Scholarship Fund.  This Fund has provided many students with scholarship money over the years (to the tune of over $30,000).
  5. Last but not least, we plan on providing some money for our annual picnic, Holiday party and maybe even a tailgate or two at some local races.
